Heading
into this Friday and Saturday night’s 11th
round of the World Series Sprintcars (WSS)
Championship at Parramatta City Raceway
(Sydney, NSW) Grant ‘The Gun’ Anderson will
step from the QLD # 83 Horrell Motorsport
Eagle and back into the VIC # 37 Anderson
Motorsport Foster.
With
the VIC # 37 Anderson Motorsport Foster
having such a good track record around PCR
in recent seasons, the decision has been
made to jump into that machine for this
weekend and attempt to post a solid result.
“The
last time we raced at PCR was for the 50K
to win event earlier this month where we
won the B-main and then worked our way forward
to 11th from the back of the field in the
feature race and we also recorded the fastest
lap of the race in the process, and then
the following night we were going pretty
well in the feature race up until a shock
tower mount broke and it resulted in a nasty
crash,” explained Anderson, who currently
sits just outside the Top 10 in the overall
WSS point standings. “The Anderson Motorsport
car is more suited to the PCR track and
that is the only reason why we are going
with this car for this weekend just to see
how we fare.”

Anderson
and the Horrell Motorsport team have endured
a tough run throughout the WSS ‘Speedweek
Series’ and also during latest rounds of
WSS up in Queensland last weekend.
“The
WSS format is based heavily on qualifying
time trials and that is an area where we’ve
struggled and that has hurt our end results,”
Anderson said. “It hasn’t been a case of
not being fast enough, we just haven’t got
it together in qualifying time trials and
as a result we’ve had to work extra hard
in our heat races just to make the show.
We’ve made the majority of feature races
on WSS but due to our poor qualifying we’ve
been forced to start towards the back of
the field and with the standard of competition
it’s tough to come from the back and work
your way up to the front.”
