‘The Gun’ Continues Solid WSS Championship Start                                              1-12-09

With two rounds of the 09/10 season World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship completed; Grant ‘The Gun’ Anderson is pleased to be currently sitting equal fourth in the overall point standings after a top 10 finish during the second round last Saturday night in what was his first visit to Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway.

The Horrell Motorsport team driver recorded a ninth place finish in the feature race and he was one of the few drivers’ during the 30 lap event that actually moved forward after he had started from position 14 in the field.

“Considering that there was limited passing opportunities in the feature race to move forward was a very satisfying result and something that the whole team can proud of,” Anderson expressed. “My team did a fantastic job to give me a strong car in the feature race. If I didn’t have such a strong car I surely wouldn’t have been able to achieve such a result as during the heat races we didn’t move forward and that saw us start deep in the feature race field.”

Anderson’s debut visit to Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway as a competitor was a solid one, especially considering that he was able to time trial eighth quickest in qualifying and finish the night with a satisfying feature race result.

“I would have been in my early teens when I last came here when my dad [David Anderson] was racing,” he admitted. “It doesn’t really bother me visiting unfamiliar tracks and you just have to go out there and give it your all and take it all from there.”

This Saturday night (December 5) Anderson returns to familiar territory when the third round of the WSS Championship is fought out at Parramatta City Raceway (Sydney, NSW) and it is something he is looking forward to.

“In recent trips to PCR I have performed fairly strongly and hopefully I can continue that this Saturday night,” the 28-year-old commented. “The goal for this Saturday night is to come away with a top 10 result and then that will set us up nicely for when we head into the start of the WSS Speedweek from Boxing Night at Speedway City.”
