Anderson and Horrell to chase WSS Campaign                                                      21-10-09

It is without a doubt the best opportunity ever offered to Grant Anderson since he started in Sprintcars nearly six years ago and you don’t have to think too hard about the answer that he gave Queensland based car owner Dave Horrell when the latter asked him about joining his team to contest the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship and other major shows throughout the 2009/10 season.

Switching from the family owned VIC # 37 Foster to the Horrell owned, Allan Smith prepared QLD # 83 Eagle that will be powered by Scott Inglis prepared 410ci Chev, is not a full-time switch and Anderson expects to still run the family owned car on various occasion this season.

Anderson, who drove for Horrell on twice towards the end of the 2007/08 season, will link back up with Horrell, and also crew chief Allan Smith and Scott Inglis and will have the ongoing support of Anderson Snr, David, who will not be too far away either.

“I cannot wait for the WSS Championship to get started and we are aiming to give this our best shot,” Anderson enthused. “We are not going to be a contracted driver on the WSS Championship trail but that doesn’t bother us whatsoever.”

Wanting to make the most of this wonderful opportunity Anderson does not mix his words when he outlines his intentions for the WSS Championship and all the other major shows, such as the Grand Annual Classic, Kings Challenge and Presidents Cup.

“I will have some very strong equipment under me so there is certainly going to be no excuses,” Anderson stated, who said that contesting the WSS Championship as a non contractor driver will not bother the team at all as they can make their own choices as to where they want to race. “Like I do each race meeting I go out there to win and my team share the same intentions. We are all on the same page and that is going to be a great confidence boost heading into our opening race meetings. I am under no illusions that we are going to be on the pace straight away but I would expect that within a handful of shows we should be right up in contention night after night.”

The Anderson and Horrell combination has the potential to ruffle a few feathers this season and their intentions are going to be match by their enthusiasm towards building a successful partnership.
